This
superb Delaware pattern tumbler was made in America between the
late 1890’s and the early 1900’s. It is in wonderful condition and
retains its band of gold near the top edge, as can be seen in the scan.
This pattern is also known as New Century and Four Petal Flower,
and was produced by the U.S. Glass Company, Bryce Brothers, and the King
Glass Company. The pattern is characterized by four-petaled flowers with
narrow graceful leaves, as well as flower buds and the incredibly detailed
stippled background.
Made in a three-part mold, which is an additional assurance of its age. The tumbler also features the straw marks from the molding process, which is another classic feature of antique molded glass. The scan of the base illustrates the detailed design as well as the oval shape of the tumbler – making the glass easier to hold – another distinctive feature of early glass pieces. |
